Motociclismo’s Gran Turismo of the Year - Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

On Thursday the 8th May the Italian motorcycle magazine “Motociclismo” light up the lights of Sforzesco Castle in Milan to welcome dignitaries from across the motorcycle industry. The event? The prestigious “la moto dell’anno 2008” award ceremony.

With more than 35,000 “Motociclismo” readers voting, the nominated 280 motorcycle models are placed into 12 different categories: 125cc, Cruiser, Naked, Dual, Enduro, Supermotard, Grand Tourismo, Sport Bike, Sport Touring, Scooter (less than 50cc), Scooter (less than 250cc) and Scooter (more than 250cc). A first, second and third place are selected from the votes for each category with and overall motorcycle chosen as a winner at the end of the night.

Over the last three years, Italy’s oldest motorcycle manufacture Moto Guzzi has released an exciting line up of new motorcycles with something for just about every rider. It came as no surprise that Moto Guzzi was represented in multiple categories on the night. The all new Moto Guzzi 1200 Stelvio featured in the Dual Purpose categories finishing an impressive 4th whilst the Moto Guzzi Bellagio and California Vintage finished second and third in the cruising category.

The Grand Tourismo category features the elite touring motorcycles that offer every available comfort for the ultimate enjoyable ride. The Moto Guzzi Norge took the prize for the best Grand Tourismo of 2008 beating the competition of the BMW R1200RT and the Kawasaki GTR1400 giving the Norge its most prestigious award yet: “The best touring motorcycle on the market today”.
